Harry Styles’ tour sends Sydney and Melbourne hotel rates climbing

Harry Styles’ Australian tour is already lifting hotel prices in Sydney and Melbourne, according to new data from Australian tech company SiteMinder.

Hotel bookings across the two cities are up by as much as 30% on the same period last year, ahead of six shows in November and December. Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium hosts four (27 and 28 November, 2 and 4 December), and Sydney’s Accor Stadium two (12 and 13 December).

Sydney hotels are averaging $630 a night across the concert dates, up $127 or 25%. Melbourne rooms average $475, up $36 or 8%.

The rush started early. SiteMinder says 23 January, when the extra shows were announced, was the biggest single booking day for Melbourne’s late-November concert nights. On pre-sale and general sale days, bookings ran 100 to 150 times normal daily volumes.

Fans are also staying a little less time, with average stays down by up to 10%, suggesting shorter trips built around the show.

What it means for your money

If you’re heading to a concert, book accommodation early and consider shorter stays or staying further out. If you run a short-stay or hospitality business, event dates are a clear signal to review your pricing.
