Taylor Swift’s Former Cornelia Street Rental In New York City Lists For $18 Million

Pop superstar Taylor Swift, who is currently on her Eras Tour, has been making headlines for her sold-out stadiums and astronomically high ticket prices. It’s said she could rake in up to $1.5 billion from the tour alone.

It comes as no surprise, then, that the pop star’s former home on Cornelia Street in New York’s West Village neighborhood is listed for $18 million, or available to rent at $45,000 per month or $50,000 per month furnished. The townhouse on 23 Cornelia Street inspired her now-hit song “Cornelia Street” and is a 153-year-old carriage house that has been fully modernized on the interiors but retains its iconic brick facade. The “Blank Space” singer rented the home in 2016 for $39,500 per month while her Tribeca residence was being redone.

The landmarked home spans 5,500 square feet and has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms. It was built in 1870 as a carriage house, or a dedicated building to store someone’s horse-drawn carriage. Today, it still has a private drive-in garage—a rarity in New York—and two front doors to enter. The 21-foot-wide townhouse has dramatic, double-height ceilings up to 27 feet, stunning hardwood floors, and grand living areas.

Underneath the garage is a pool level, which houses the 30-foot by 15-foot and 5.5-foot-deep pool, an exterior garden, a gas fireplace, and a gym. Above the garage level, which also features one of the guest suites, is the second floor. The main living area has a double-height beamed ceiling and blond parquet Russian Ipe wood floors. It’s airy and bright thanks to casement windows that allow in plenty of natural sunlight. This floor has a light-filled dining room and kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and granite counter tops. Also on this level is a guest suite that can be used as a bedroom or an office.

The primary bedroom and one other guest suite are found on the third floor, each with its own private terrace, spa-like bathroom, and walk-in closet. The bedrooms are lined with casement windows and French doors open onto each terrace overlooking Cornelia Street. The primary bedroom in particular has a spectacular marble bath with a glass-enclosed shower and skylight, plus a gas fireplace in the outdoor lounge.

Finally, the next floor up the rooftop terrace offers stunning views of downtown Manhattan. Here there’s ample room for outdoor seating and lush landscaping. There’s even room for an outdoor kitchen, putting green, or whatever you wish. The home is listed by Laurence Carty, Irene Lo, and Jennifer Rahilly of The Corcoran Group.

While Swift might not call this Cornelia Street residence home any longer, she still owns property in New York City. In 2014, she purchased two adjacent penthouses in the iconic and historic Sugar Loaf Building in Tribeca—known for its many celebrity residents—from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. She converted the penthouses into one giant penthouse with a total of 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a billiards room, and more.
