Robert Wise was Tinseltown royalty who, among many other achievements, edited Citizen Kane, won Oscars as director of West Side Story and The Sound of Music, was president of the Directors Guild of America from 1971-1975, and the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1985-1988. He died at age 91 in 2005.

For many years, he maintained a home in the iconic I. M. Pei-designed Century Towers in the heart of Los Angeles’ Century City. The two-story corner residence, composed of three combined units on the 23rd and 24th floors, measures over 4,335 square feet and features stunning city and ocean views. The unique property includes six parking spaces and three storage units.

Robert Wise’s granddaughter oversaw the renovations and is now selling the home.

The 23rd floor opens to large, bright rooms with high coffered ceilings, beautiful built-in cabinetry and imported European wide-plank oak flooring. All the rooms offer breathtaking views to the west or the north. A gorgeous open kitchen has top of the line appliances and quartzite countertops. The main floor also has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a laundry room and storage.

An extraordinary, custom-built staircase curves up to the master bedroom suite on the 24th floor, which includes an office, balcony, large master closet, and exquisite Master Bath with dual sinks, imposing marble bathtub, steam shower and, even from the bathroom, captivating views.

In all, the spacious home offers four bedrooms and four full bathrooms.

Century Towers offers the amenities wanted by today’s homeowners: a 24-hour full-service guard-gated building with doorman, valet parking, tennis courts, fitness center, sauna, swimming pool and beautiful grounds.

Listed by Justin Mandile of Sotheby’s International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage, this extraordinary home with solid-gold Hollywood history is offered for $4,950,000 million.
