Costliest Penthouse In New Zealand’s Tallest Tower Hits The Market

Pacifica, the 584-foot tall residential tower rising in the heart of Auckland’s central business district, is slated to be completed in August of this year. Designed by Jaimin Atkins of Plus Architecture, the $300 million building is a striking new feature on the skyline of New Zealand’s capital city, second in height only to Auckland’s Sky Tower, a 1,076-foot-tall telecommunications and observation tower. Pacifica has 57 stories, encompassing 282 residential units.

To date, 80% of the residences have been sold, ranging from a 645 square foot one bedroom apartment that sold for $850,000 NZD, to a 2,500 sq. ft. penthouse on one of the higher floors that fetched in the neighborhood of $7,500,000 NZD.

Now the two-story penthouse at the top of the building is for sale for $40 million NZD, a record. One American Dollar converts to roughly one and one-half New Zealand Dollars. 

Rising above Waitematā Harbour, the Pacifica facade is designed to reflect the waters of Auckland. The building’s unique twisting form and glassy hue are inspired by the waves of Auckland’s famous beaches. The graduated glass diffusions mimic and reflect shades of the bustling harbor below.

A 43-room boutique hotel is planned for the lower six levels of the building; 15 penthouses occupy the building’s top five stories. 

The “super penthouse” newly arrived on the market has five bedrooms, five full and four half baths, a separate guest suite, a formal lounge, a chef-style kitchen plus a butler’s kitchen, banquet-style dining area, cellar and wine tasting room, media room, library, gym, sauna, spa and steam room, art gallery, sky garden with double-height ceiling, personal office, board rooms and up to 12 parking spaces.

The property also offers buyers a rare foreign buyer exemption certificate.
