A Look At $5.25-Million Homes In Bel-Air, Hong Kong And Manhattan

Real Estate

In this week’s look at new luxury real estate on Forbes Global Properties, I took a look at homes selling for about $5.25 million in three of the most expensive housing markets in the world.

Bel-Air, Los Angeles

Price: $5.25 million

Size: Three bedrooms, four bathrooms

Inside: Entered through a pivoting glass door, the split-level house combines ceramic floors, high ceilings and ambient for a sophisticated look. A glass-enclosed office sits off the entry, while floor-to-ceiling wine storage sits behind glass in the dining room. In the heart of the home, walls of windows line a gleaming open-concept kitchen, dining area and living room.

Outdoor living space: Tucked away in the heart of Stone Canyon, the Midcentury-vibe residence is completely private thanks to tall hedges and sloping canyons that surround it. From the living room, steps lead down to a sunken pool deck and swimming pool. Additional patio space and a putting green lie elsewhere.

Sai Kung, Hong Kong

The natural beauty of the Sai Kung peninsula is on full display from this waterfront home overlooking the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

Price: $5.2 million

Size: Four bedrooms, four bathrooms

Inside: Designed with waterfront views in mind, the multi-level floor plan features a large living room, a dining room and an updated kitchen on the main floor.  Dark countertops and granite tilework create a visual contrast to the white-walled living spaces. The primary bedroom suite — one of four bedrooms total — has bi-folding doors that open to a private deck. Built-in cabinetry and wardrobes provide additional storage throughout.

Outdoor living space: A rooftop terrace and private balconies on two levels take in unobstructed views of the Sai Kung waterfront and peninsula.

Lenox Hill, Manhattan, New York City

A rare offering on the Upper East Side, this six-room apartment in the Empire Condominium building comes with its own parking space — a desirable but sometimes hard-to-come-by feature in the dense urban setting.

Price: $5.35 million

Size: Three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

Inside: Entered through a gracious foyer, the residence opens to a high-ceiling living room anchored on one side by a gas fireplace. A formal dining room with a striking Dale Chihuly-designed glass chandelier sits off the living room area. The sleek chef’s kitchen has been upgraded with top-of-the-line appliances and custom cabinetry.

Outdoor living space: Private balconies fashioned as private gardens bookend the residence, providing the perfect perch for enjoying views from Central Park to New Jersey to upper Manhattan. Residents of the building also have access to an athletic center, common lounge and dining room. There are also two outdoor common spaces.
