Tax Day 2020 Specials, Freebies & Deals A Lot Lighter Than In Past Years

Taxes

This Tax Day doesn’t sure doesn’t look – or feel – like any other Tax Day.

Due to Covid-19, the original filing deadline and tax payment due date for 2019 was postponed from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020. With many states still under travel and work restrictions due to the pandemic, some taxpayers and tax professionals alike were hoping that the date might be extended. But in June, the Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that the 2019 tax filing deadline remained July 15, 2020.

That means that today brings to an end (well, sort of) a long, drawn-out tax season. Normally, that would be cause for celebration since Tax Day usually means specials, freebies, and deals. But things are definitely lighter this year than last. Still, after you pop your return (or your extension) in the mail, you can kick back and take advantage of some of the promos and specials offered this year.

Hopefully, more deals will be popping up so check back. To help you find them quickly, new additions will be noted with (NEW).

Here’s what’s on tap so far:

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. Though Tax Day might be one of the most dreaded day of the years, that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. This Wednesday, July 15, BJ’s is serving up their delicious Loaded Burgers and unlimited fries* for only $10. With flavorful options like the Mushroom Swiss Burger, Hickory Brisket and Bacon Burger, Bacon-Guacamole Deluxe Burger and Crispy Jalapeno Burger your stomach and wallet are sure to be pleased. The $10 Loaded Burger and Fries is available for dine-in, takeout or delivery. (*unlimited fries available for dine-in only). More at bjsrestaurants.com .

Food purchase required at select locations. Must be 21+. Valid ID required. More information at www.olivegarden.com

Please note that these specials are based on information passed along from companies and their representatives, as well as social media. While I’ve made every effort to make sure that they’re accurate, I haven’t been to each location and/or company so I can’t personally vouch for them. Remember, too, that many of these companies are franchises and may have different promotions or may not participate at all. Be sure to read the fine print. If you have questions about an offer, reach out to the company directly.

Some companies may require a coupon or a “like” on Facebook. And, since pandemic restrictions vary from state to state, not all locations may be open. If you are not sure, then err on the side of checking out websites (I’ve included links to the companies where possible) or calling the location directly.

And if you have a lead on a Tax Day deal promotion, deal or special, let me know. You can tweet @taxgirl, post a note on Facebook or email me (but please, no calls).

Enjoy the day!
